Held in February each year, this is a big event in Westport. People come from all over the country, even other parts of the world to take part in this challenge.
Teams of four run 10km each or for the more fit 21km (half marathon) and for the super fit the full 42km. This starts in the scenic Buller Gorge and heads in to town. Every one gets involved, school and youth teams get out and help with set up, drinks, and clean up and the local businesses donate spot prizes.
We start again for the summer season on the 21st September meet at 5:45pm on Brougham Street, Westport outside the fishing school. The $5 a night cost is well spent to ensure 'safety first' - our dedicated team set up road markers, time-keep, take photos and make sure everyone gets home safely. For more information see Denna or Adrian at Habitat Sports.
