Here are some of the shorter bike rides around Westport:
Charming Creek - We offer a Shuttle Transport Service to this Track - Best price guaranteed Email Us
(can only be enjoyed from Seddonville at the moment due to a slip)
As per its name this track is quite a charm, There are normally two points of access to the walkway. The southern end is clearly signposted from the main highway at Ngakawau, 35 km north-east of Westport. The northern end is through Seddonville and 10km along a gravel road to the walkway entrance at the abandoned Charming Creek mine site.
The track is easily walked or biked in either direction if transport arrangements can be made. Otherwise a return from the Ngakawau walkway entrance is my pick - a genital bike up to the Mum's mill or right to the end and back is about 2-3 hours return. Tunnels, swing bridges and a beautiful river beside the tack with oozing with history on your way to the water fall.
Cape Foul Wind / Tauranga Bay
Enjoy a lovely bike ride 11 kilometres to Cape Foul Wind or 16 kilometres out to Tauranga Bay on the road. Then walk over the hill to see the fur seals from the viewing platforms.
See our beautiful sunsets at North Beach. There are some neat new tracks that any one can ride, so much work has been done so take your children or go and enjoy with friends. BBQ area so make a afternoon of it.
Carters beach is about 5km out of town, a lovely short ride if you have a hour to fill in, The beach is nice with a park and a shop for ice blocks, drinks and even a beer or wine if you like.
